I was thinking a while ago about what if NASA had a publicity stunt where people submitted publicity stunts. All of my ideas are both really good and really bad, like Sending the President into Space, Landing the shuttle at a major Airport (including a contest to get it to land near your city), having a reality show on the station, my ideas would really get a lot of people mad.

Maybe they should take Jake Garn up again. Or Elmo; they could do a Sesame Street segment about the Shuttle on one of the last trips up.

Actually, that might be realistic. They could have the astronauts do the puppetry and then the sesame street people could do the voices and editing from Earth...

Huh. For once a NASA-hater was right. Of course, he took it completely in the wrong direction, but at least the thing he noticed was an actual cover-up!

Unfortunately, they can't accept what is really happening, and are stubborn on some outlandish thing like NASA covering up extraterrestrial life behind a moon.

Solar424, thank you, but we need another Mt.Rushmore there.

List a Shuttle on craigslist.

Send KISS up on STS-135 in the MPLM.

Instead of getting supplies they need they'll get an 80's hard rock band.

And maybe get badly sick from having no food or water... or not AFAIK even before the MPLMs arrive they usually still have more than enough than they need.

You can easily get around this by simply freeze-drying KISS and placing them in the MPLM. Don't worry, it won't hurt them!

...They just won't smell very good when you open the airlock. :shifty:

This reminds me of that UCGO Person addon.

Secretly build an enormous city ship under Cape Canaveral and then launch KSC to the moon!

Of course there would probably have to be a giant bubble encompassing KSC, and that might be a bit conspicuous...

Next Shuttle launch will be at night and will contain a multi million dollar lighting and pyrotechnics display. At the climax of 1812 overture the shuttle launches accompanied by tons and tons of pyro.

A couple of years ago Rolling Rock Beer said they where going to project their logo onto the moon at a given time. It was a complete hoax but it got a lot of publicity. It didn't occur to me until after that projecting on a full moon wouldn't work because the light would be drowned out by the suns light.

It would be really cool to do that though. I think it could be huge if NASA could project their logo onto a new moon. Which begs the question:

Is it possible to project something large enough on the moons surface, from Earth so that it would be easily visible from Earth?

Wrong. STS-133 is day launch with T0 planned for 4:40 pm EDT. Same goes for the landing which is planned for 10:39 am EST.

Launch time for STS-134 currently is 3:38 pm EST on Feb. 27 2011, another day launch.

Is Emily a NASA employee? I thought she was working for the Planetary Society.
100% correct. She works for the Planetary Society, not NASA. But if you have an agenda to spin, you won't let such a minor detail matter will you?
