A British man used a quarter million Lego pieces to build a replica of the American aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, which is on display inside the real thing in New York:

Here's another big one, looks like an Enterprise class:

Has anyone here ever built a Lego design as large and complex as this?

What's the biggest or most complex Lego structure you've made?

Yeah, I heard of these before, but they are very amazing that anyone can do this kinda thing with LEGO's.

When I was a child I constructed a rocket with a gimbal nozzle and a building with the ground control and the launch pad:lol:. But Lego is expensive and construct these things is very expensive, or I think so.

Ouch, i'm afraid to think how much did it cost.

And why do i feel the urge to save and blow up? :)

It's valued at $500,000 - so it doesn't come cheap. We have a few thousand pieces but the best thing of all is the Mindstorms robotic set - my kid loves it!

I'm not actually sure what the largest and most complex LEGO set I've constructed has been. I'm pretty sure it was part of a set though... maybe the Millenium Falcon.

I doubt. Lego is very expensive, especially in such s scale.

I have seen a Lego replica of the German cruise ship "Aida" somewhere on TV. It was way smaller than the USS Intrepid replica. Its builder said it costed thousands of Euros. He didn't say the exact costs but he said he could have made 3 cruises with that money.

I still prefer Orbiter than Lego as a hobby

EDIT

It reminds me of the Mythbusters Lego Ball by the way:

On topic,

This, i guess.

The Vanderer:

It's an interstellar vessel pieced together from orbital debris around a dead world, and fired towards a neighbour star in hopes to keep the life going.

Three large shuttles around a keel with multiple mis-matched habitats, all pushed by a refined magic propulsion system.

Kinda apocalyptic thing i've made couple years ago from whatever lego i've got left after my nephew's systematic raids on my supplies.

I recognise the green canopy-thing at the top... from some submarine kit, if I'm correct... :hmm:

I honestly have no idea. It's made from parts out of a dozen sets i had and a few dozen my nephew had.

My son made something like that, not quite as big though.

For summertime I'd like to have about a million pieces, all black. Donations to the usual account...

Yes, it's the largest official LEGO set ever, with something like 5000 pieces to it.
It also costs about 500USD... man, I wish I was rich

As far as my own LEGO creations go, the largest has to be my post-apocalyptic truck, which I did based on the truck featured on the final scene of the game Full Throttle.

Sadly, I had to leave it at home when I moved out, so I can't get a picture of it... it's still there though, hopefully still in one piece.

Here's a drawing of it I did some time ago...

Imagine that, only it's done in LEGOs ;)
It uses about a thousand parts... I never counted, but it's pretty heavy. (about 2 or 3 pounds maybe)

it's mostly done in LEGO Technic pieces, so there's a steering bar, rear suspension, and a number of cobbled together bits like cams and brackets that form the engine blocks (there are supposed to be 2 engines there), also there's a great deal of pieces from the underwater LEGO sets... so the truck is mostly yellow and black.

I had plans to build it's trailer, but I didn't have nearly enough parts to keep it proportional... The truck is about 30cm in length by 20cm in width, and 15cm high... the trailer would have measured nearly a meter in length

Cheers

My most complex kit-built one is probably the Lego Technic Space Shuttle (from maybe 10 years ago). I'm thinking of reassembling it for the end of the Shuttle program.

As for non-kit-built: currently I'm sitting in front of a meant-to-be robotic Pez dispenser, which I made a few years ago (it's pretty small, but is nicely loaded with sensors etc - so it looks complex, at least!). The only problem is that I wanted a loop in the Mindstorms programming, but never worked out how to get it quite right. Otherwise, I once made some aircraft carrier out of Lego Western sets - it had some moveable ramp, which was meant to let fighter jets be stowed below deck. Sadly, my Gripen didn't quite fit IIRC ;)

I see that he's married, I bet his wife is just roll her eyes lol

Right now im working on a patrol robot in mindstorms for school.I'll post a pic next week.
