A video tribute I made to the last shuttle

Sorry if I sound like a pest, but why didn't you use STS-135 footage? Atlantis landed when it was still dark out, but you are playing footage from another mission. Why?

I thought it was Orbiter.

Not being a pest at all. NASA actually created this footage from another Atlantis landing and synced the audio from the last landing to give you a visual representation of the landing. The actual landing was done in pitch black conditions and could not be captured by airial means. 95% of the actual video was pitch black.

Which is sad because that was the LAST landing and for the most part, you see a black screen. Too bad they could not have waited for better photographic conditions. :(

Excellent tribute!!! :10sign:
Tnx!

Too bad, but absolutely the right decision. This isn't like dusting crops.

IMHO NASA could have put more effort into getting some top-of-the-line night-vision footage, because this was the final flight.

But still, the entry team made the correct decision. The margin of error is too small in this business. You just don't pass on a landing opportunity to get pretty pictures.

Ducting crops? I thought it was a flying brick?

But you are correct, one or two more orbits would have put it outside of the plain for re-entry. Still though it's sad to not be able to really see the last landing. Good of NASA to make this to at least give us a visual of what it looked like.
