why do you need it unassociated? Whats so wrong with having it associated with notepad?

mine are all associated with notepad++ and orbiter happily loads them. There is no issue with .SCN being associated with notepad.

I need to unassociate .scn files. I need to have it open with NOTHING. Orbiter won't load any of my quicksaves because all .scn files
open with notepad.

I tried going to regedit, searching ".scn" and deleting all values, the key, everything. .scn files still open with notepad

tried CMD "assoc .scn=" .scn files still open with notepad

I am using windows vista. I had this problem before and corrected it, but I forgot how I did it.

Hiya, when you say "Orbiter won't load..." what do you mean? You can't just "open" .scn files to run then. You can only load scenarios from the Orbiter.exe launchpad.

ALL of my .scn files are deliberately set to open with notepad (quicker access for editing). The association has absolutely nothing to do with the issue.

As spacethingy noted, if you want to "run" the files, you need to do so from the Orbiter launchpad.

You mean you previously clicked on a quicksave in Explorer window and it opened Orbiter simulation, or no quicksaves can be opened by Orbiter when you choose them from Orbiter launchpad?

If you want to associate .scn files to be opened by Orbiter look in this issue.
