OK,I am not very good at the difference in orbits,I appologize, anyways I basicaly would like to move Greg Burches Celestrium 3 space station from Earth Leo to the moons LLO,and an orbit of 500X500. He has a space station in his Space station blocks addon that I want to match orbit with, so I used the scenario editor F4,and changed the location of the celestrium 3 to move it to the orbit that Gregs Building blocks lunar station is at.Now when I start the scenario the celestrium is spinning out of control,so I killrot it,and then it changes to a different orbit that I don't want. How can I copy exactly Gregs building blocks station locations, and vectors, ect to the celestrium 3? here is a pic of the orbit I would like to achieve. Thanks

Why not put a DG into the lunar orbit you want then copy the SCN elements to the station?

Yeah I never thought of that, thanks garyw I will give it a try.:tiphat:

OK,I tried that,and no go.

OK, I got it to work now, copied all the orbital data from the scenario editor, and applied it to the Celestrium3.Thanks

Set the orbital elements in the scenario editor? Make sure you're editing a module near the centre of the station, if it's very large.

what issue do you have with docking?

I recommend attaching CMG 2.0 to the station so you can have it hold attitude LVLH and then use Attitude MFD for the approach and docking manuvers. I do that all the time.

Thanks cras, can you use the cmg for other stations besides the ISS? it would be nice if thats the case,I do use AtitudeMFD,but have only used it for the ISS approach.

Absolutely. I have CMG 2.0 attached to the station I am currently building right now. It attached via a docking port. It has both the Z1 module and the CMG then docks inside that. Then change the focus to the CMG, information is displayed on the HUD, and you can set it to zero rotation INTRL, free drift, or LVLH attitude hold in which ever direction required. It is pure awesome.

OK,Cras I gotta try it out, thanks for the info, the Problem is I can't get the X mark lined up to dock in the docking mfd, it keeps moving around no matter what I do,But I do have it in a different orbit unlike the ISS,also any advice on using AttitudeMFD?Thanks:thumbup:

For my current situation, I am building a station in LEO with fuel tanks, and large hab modules to act as sort of an orbital space port (eventually for an Arrow, but I have yet to come up with a solution on how to dock that thing to a space station.)

I at the moment fly mostly the XR2 to it.

I have the attitude hold on the station via the CMG set up that the primary docking port is facing forward, just like the Shuttle's old docking port on ISS.

I do rendezvous with Rendezvous MFD which allows me to get to the station on the V-Bar, right underneath the station. At this point, I use Attitude MFD, under velocity mode, and set pitch +90. This will make me fly, relative to the earth, with my nose pointed straight up.

Then I get close to the station, about 300 meters or so. Then I use Attitude MFD to TORVA, to go from the V-Bar to the R-Bar and get infront of the station, then use Attitude MFD to set my attitude (again velocity mode) to pitch +180. Now I am on my back facing the station. Now my attitude is aligned perfectly with the docking port and the only thing I have to worry about is staying centered on the port and close in. The "X" and the corrsponding arrow will always be nice and aligned.

Now in my case there is an extra step. The docking port is rotate, so I must roll +90 to align the arrow.

If you are flying a dorsal docking ship, like the XR5 or the Space Shuttle, then when approaching on V-Bar your velocity mode attitude hold should be 0-0-0 for p-r-y, and then when your perform the TORVA manuver to get infront of the station, you will want your pitch to be +90, then translate toward the port at a nice slow and steady rate.

That is how I do it, and it works very very well. Docking is a breeze when using the CMG and AttitudeMFD. (wow, that rhymed)

Cool, thanks for all the info Cras, heres a front docking port, I added to the arrow.hope that helps!

Ok I installed the CMG,and,Z1 mesh, now I am getting a CTD everytime I try and choose the cmg,or,Z1 module,I have them docked to the Celestrium heres the errors.

missing textures? I have to say something is fishy going on here.

I took a gander at the text and it seems some other add-ons are required for CMG 2.0

I honestly did not remember there being such, but that could also be because I have already installed the required ones to get ISS 3.2 to work fully.

Get:
Thorton's ISS
Donamy's ISS Experience V3
STS-92 for SSU by Donamy

That should fix mesh issues.

Though I have to say I am a little curious as to why CMG 2.0 is causing misisng textures for things like the ESA Columbus lab and the MBS.

Thanks for the front docking port. I will try to utilize that for sure.

I can't find Donamy's ISS Experience V3,on OH anymore,I wonder if it has been removed, also do I have to install Space shuttle ultra to get this addon to work too?

No, I only ahve that specific STS flight pack for SSU. It has some certain stuff that is required, mainly I think it is the OBSS but dont take my word on that. It has been a while since I wenta round getting the required stuff for a full ISS 3.2 or ISS Fleet install.

And I do believe Donamy's ISS is now called ISS A to Z.

I do have a question here. How is it you got the CMG into the scenario? Do you have modules like the MBS or Columbus, or an ELC attached to your station?

I have the Nebulas, module 1.OK, I have everything installed now getting this error now.

:beathead:

can you post your scenario file?
It CTDs whenever you change ships too. Thanks

OK,I started a fresh orbiter, and all works great, and your right the CMG is an awesome addon ,and it works great with the Celestrium space station addon. Thanks so much.

I was just about to give your scenario a try, but alas that seems no longer neccessary.

Cheers mate, and happy orbiting.
