Hello,
I already got the joystick to work on my old Windows 98 PC and when I test out the POV, it turns out to be buttons and throttle, then I was trying to get a new copy of "joy.cpl" and "msgame.vxd" and still have POV problems. So how can i fix this problem? :P

PS. I am new to the forums. So greetings! :tiphat:

This definitely sounds like a driver problem. I have an MS Sidewinder 3D Pro myself (for about fifteen years now), and it works flawlessly with Orbiter, including the POV switch.

I never used it with Orbiter in Windows 98, but it did work with Windows 2000, XP and 7. In fact, when I recently lost my ancient game port connector in a PC upgrade, I refitted the joystick with a USB interface using a programmable USB board, and it keeps going strong.

So the MS Sidewinder can work ok with Orbiter. As to how to fix your problem, I'm afraid I can't really help.

why would you try to get a 'new' copy of system files? That can cause all sorts of issues itself and will often trigger the windows file protection.
The best way to get updated system files is to apply a service pack or update the drive of the device concerned.

Never, ever run around the internet looking for replacement system files. it's a sure fire way of trashing your system.
