Okay so I just found "Scenerios Language File for Notepad++" [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5749"]Scenerios Language File for Notepad++[/ame]

I followed the included instructions to no avail however.

Istallation Instructions

1. Unzip the Orbiter-SCN.xml file to any location you choose, ie(Desktop)
2. Open Notepad++, if you don't have it you can download it at (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/)
3. Once Notepad++ is open, go to View->User Defined Dialogue...
4. A pop-up window (User Defined Language) will apear, click on Import...
5. Bowse to Orbiter-SCN.xml location and select it. Click open.
6. Click on Save As... in the User Defined Language window.
7. Name as Orbiter-SCN or what ever you like, this will be the language name you choose.
8. Close the User Defined Language window.
9. Now you should be able to see the language in the Language menu.
10. Now open any Orbiter scenerio file, and it should be recognized.

the only available file type is UDL (*.xml) and I am unable to continue past step 5, I am obviously not a programmer, I just want to play around and see what I can do is all.

No need for such complex steps LOL....

Just do this: when you save the file in Notepad, you have a choice of which kind of file extension you want to save the file as. Choose the "others" option. Then after you type the file name you want, add ".scn" at the back (e.g. a .scn file with name "Discovery" would be "Discovery.scn"). That's it! :tiphat:

It sounds so simple but all I can do is save it as a .txt file and I don't see an "others" option.

Okay finally got it figured out, instead of others it was "All Files" the encoding was ANSI (default) and it was saved as a proper .scn file, let the games begin, sometimes its the smallest things.

Oh and I stumbled across this realtime ISS mod while I was at it, pretty cool actually.

Notepad does some weird stuff and will often break standard conventions. This is why I normally use Notepad++ as it's a lot more helpful and doesn't do some of the odd things notepad does.
