i have come across orbiter while browsing online and am contemplating downloading it. i would like to know if there is a method(and if so how) of importing some preexisting spacecraft meshes i have in obj format into orbiter to use as spacecraft, i am brand new to this so please be very clear. thanks.

You can do it for example with obj to msh converters:

AC3D can export .obj to .msh for Orbiter.

I believe Anim*or can also. But of course you will need more than a mesh to get it to work in orbiter. At the minimum a cfg file.

There's also a Wings3D plugin on OrbitHangar that allows direct export to mesh.

I have found the Wings3d plugin an dream to work with. Ok mine are simple meshes but it still does the do. Wings can also import a OBJ file so it really could be a case of in the front door with OBJ and out the back with MSH !!!
