Five people have been killed and one injured in a shooting in the US state of Illinois. The suspect is reportedly in custody after a police chase.

Multiple people were shot during the incident, which happened in the town of Manchester.

A child has been taken to a hospital in Springfield, Illinois, as a result of a gunshot wound.

The murders happened inside a public housing complex, the pastor of Manchester Baptist Church told NewsChannel 5.

Several nearby schools are on lockdown.

The incident has been confirmed by Illinois state police and the mayor of Manchester.

Manchester is located 85 miles north of St. Louis.

If we should have humor ban for every kid that is shot in the USA... damn, all would be Germans suddenly.

Also, nobody here makes jokes about the child - we simply react with black humor that things never changed. Even Elvis Presley already sang about a child being shot in the USA and it being just the way it is. One kid shot, 20 kids shot... nothing will change. All is perfect, we are just going to need another Timmy.

Which is a pointless argument in that either way a person ends up dead or seriously injured, because in no small part, of the firearm's involvement. A fistfight is far less likely to kill you than a bullet to certain organs and blood vessels.

Happens in Chicago all the time man. Guns are not the only way to murder, and having lived in Chicago all my life, working in the city for several years, in some of the more shaddy neighborhoods, I can say that guys get killed by fists quite often. There are other ways too. Guns are bad in that most of these idiots are bad shots, and they tend to spray their bullets all over the block, and those bullets have to stop, and sometimes they get stopped by kids on a play ground, or walking to school. So while this particular story seems to have gotten all of your attention, there are 10's if not 100s of them that happen just up I-55 that you have never heard of.

But a bullet can only kill you if somebody pulls the trigger of the gun.

It happens that people also die in a fight, or afterwards in the hospital. But no fists or feet were ever convicted for murder.

The only difference is that a gun is a more dangerous weapon than fists. But the gun itself can't kill you as long as nobody pulls the trigger while pointing the gun towards you. It's a person which kills another person. No matter if he/she uses a gun, a knife, blank fists, a car, an airplane, a tank, or whatsoever...
