Take a look at the mouseover text on today's xkcd.

I thought that was a nice little reference to the sim!

Ok, this is pretty awesome! You know you're doing a good job when your program gets mentioned in a webcomic. Congratulations Dr. Schweiger!

An extremely popular webcomic at that! Any old webcomic could mention Orbiter and it wouldn't be a big deal, but xkcd on the other hand...

Finally

I can't see it on my tablet! What is it????

When you mouse over the comic, it says "Ahem. We are STRICTLY an Orbiter shop."

Interesting! That will probably mean an influx of new people who read that which is always good!

Hm. I'm not so sure about that. "We are strictly an Orbiter shop" is not necessarily an immediate hint to Orbiter the Space Flight Simulator. You'd have to be into KSP forums or even Orbiter itself already to get that reference. Everybody else might just think "yes, yes, NASA has actually built an orbiter for real, not in a computer program".

I agree that this is like a geeky Oscar nomination, though.

Maybe it is the problem for us, that you can't make good jokes about Orbiter. ;)

KSP offers more projection surface there.

Let's make some!
Here are some seeds off the top of the random thoughts pile:

...
I mean, the last thing i would take on a year long trip to Mars is a space flight simulator!
...
Deltaglider was an oxymoron, like all retro-futuristic designs. A flying triangular brick, gliding like a drunk on the stairs, a child of old space operas and early spacecraft designs.
...
-What kind of a geek are you to play space games in a space hotel?
...
-This thing was made 30 years ago, and you plan trajectories with it? Isn't there something newer and more specific?
-It's good enough! Besides, there would be a new version soon.
-Let me guess, tuesday?

It's as simple as rocket science!

Good idea, here is mine:

"Orbiter? That bloody thing is so last century... it is underdeveloped!"
"Yep. Just like physics. THAT thing did not change at all since like... the beginnings of time! Probably..."
"But at least it has better graphics."

"What is that? An CST-100? Does it have auto?"

"Hail Probe!"

"Moar Boosters"

"I have the default shuttle with unlimited fuel checked, but I still can't reach orbit"
