No... Just watched the UEFA Champions League Final Juventus Turin - FC Barcelona (the second final in Berlins Olympiastadion in a week)... now stuck at Deichkind live at the "Rock am Ring" festival.

But tomorrow Germany starts into the tournament and you can sure, I will watch it :)

A grand game! and a promising start for our Canadian girls.

Mind you ... sometimes it looked like Juventus' defense didn't show up for the game. Good game Barcelona!

The Japanese girls were brilliant last time and I am rooting them going all the way through as champions.

Come on, no team in this world can made a solid defence against MSN et al. Even Bayern crumbled after staying afloat for 80 minutes... :uhh:

They actually did a good job and often managed to show Barcelona its weaknesses, especially when Barcelona became complacent. But you also noticed the age of the key actors of Juve, that final was really the last shot for greatness for them, before a generation change in the team gets necessary. Another CL final with Buffon and Pirlo gets pretty risky for the future, since its time to build up their successors and slowly get replacements on the key positions.

The result does not show that Juve was bad. It simply shows that Barcelona was much better on that day, despite Messi having some mental problems in the beginning and the others of the trident a rather bad start.

EDIT: But that's enough about the men... its ladies night here now.

Alright, Norway tops Thailand 4-0. On to Germany vs Ivory Coast!

10:0 for Germany against the Ivory Coast.

Still some homework left for Germany before the match against Norway.

Rather interesting having a couple of World Cup games in your own city. Way to go Norway and Germany.

And since it was a Sunday, it didn't even mess up traffic, afterwards.

How shocked you'll be if I tell you that is very hard to find some coverage of the tournament in major news websites here in Brazil, even major sports websites?

Very shocked. Are you fearing that your women will defeat Germany 7:1?

Maybe

Women's football has the same status as tennis here - which was a national fever when Kuerten was ATP no.1, but is now largely forgotten by the general public. Our women's team receives the deserved attention only in summer Olympics or if they proceed to the World Cup final match. What says a lot about our sports culture.
