General Question How do you read the Velocity/Direction indicators?

I was close to ISS and then accidentally hit the main thruster. So now, I’ve been chasing ISS all over the place and keep over correcting. I’m trying to find a point of reference. I faced Prograde, so that I have some sense of direction, and can tell if ISS is at a different altitude, above or below my plane, and in front of or behind me. The D[ISS] indicator is pointing down, but how do I know if that is below or behind? (Do I aim down, or slow down?) I’m trying to fix one plane at a time. I’m close to ISS – I’d hate to have to go through aligning planes and synchronizing orbits again.

Also, in the keymap.cfg, what’s the LP stand for, in LPRCSPitchUp, for example? When I hit my RCSDown key, I get rocking (pitching down) motion and LPRCSPitchUp uses the same key.
 
If you were correctly close to ISS (same plane, same speed), all you had to do to regain your position after your main engine accidental burn was to retro burn in the opposite direction by as much dV as your first burn.

What were your RInc and your DTmin?

Anyway the "circle with +" points to your positive vector, the "circle with dot" points to your negative vector.
When you are in docking HUD after tuning your COM/NAV, the square D[ISS] is ISS' actual position, while the round V[ISS] is the vector you have to burn into to synchronize your speed to that of ISS.
If you succeed in overimposing V[ISS] to D[ISS] (with careful RCS burns, but you must be CLOSE), you go straight to the Station.

I think you should better study/understand what Orbit MFD and Sync Orbit MFD can tell you.
