Don't know if anybody saw this yet, there aren't any posts on the Space news forum yet, so here you go.
That's a picture of subsurface ice revealed by the pressure of the Phoenix's retrorockets--or at least the scientists are 98.5% sure its ice. Although the ice in this picture is inaccessible by the sampler arm, it gives scientists hope that the ice that can be sampled is not too deep under the martian soil.
