Hey, wow another person I recognize from the WireMod forums! Small world eh?
Good luck with this. I've always wanted a good multiplayer solution for Orbiter. Especially since the the Orbiter Multiplayer Project appears to have died. I really have no idea how you're going to make this compatible...
On his 21st orbit, Gordon Cooper piloting Faith 7 (the last of the Mercury missions) lost all telemetry data and automatic control of his craft. With CO2 levels rising, using only his wristwatch and the stars, he successively calculated and performed the most accurate reentry burn of the Mercury...
Alright thanks, I suppose that'll work. It's just too bad there are no external hatch controls or any other way to evacuate injured crew. I guess in the mean time I'll just have to use my imagination.
Force a docking? How would that work? As far as I know you can only dock with a ship that has its nose cone open (which I cant do). I'd be really surprised if there is no "official" way to do this.
I had an XR2 crash on the moon during takeoff from Brighton. The crew was injured but survived. I thought they might have been close enough to Brighton to jet pack back, but the XR2/UMMU wouldn't let me touch any of the controls (including to EVA the crew). I sent another XR2 as a rescue mission...
Can someone be be a little more specific?
Let's say you want to fly to Mars. Would you prefer to:
A) [Continuous scenario] Open up the current state of your last mission, refuel and use the vessel you used last time, and fly to Mars. This would allow you to utilize all the custom objects you've...
Whenever I do a flight in Orbiter I tend to just open up a pre-made generic scenario and delete my quick saves when I'm done. After reading about all the cool space stations and such people build I realized it might be fun to have some continuity in my scenarios. Like where I could put something...
Yeah, but it's only his prerogative in the sense that you can quit your job, ignore your friends, and skip town. No one can stop you but it isn't very nice. I'm also not super happy with the fact that he removed the download from Orbit Hanger. Once you release something into the public domain, I...
Wait, no more shuttle fleet?! I was just getting into realistic spacecraft too! Could we get some sort of an explanation?
It's like the shuttle is being retired all over again.
Sure, nothing says you have to be aligned with moon's plane in an off-plane intercept. But isn't it most efficient when you are? Almost every tutorial I've seen either has me aligning with the moon's plane or launching into it. If that doesn't matter than what efficiency is surface launch...
Okay, I get that. The best period to launch would always be when the moon's orbit intersects (or gets close to intersecting) the launch point. However, the launch time suggested by Surface Launch doesn't correspond to the time of intersection on the map. If I ignore the suggested launch time and...
Thanks for the help. It took some time, but I've now successfully plotted two figure 8 trajectories and I plan to fly one. In retrospect it appears I was being too flippant in setting my TIn, giving me some bizarre trajectories. After locking down TIn to 3 days I found figure 8 trajectories...
Doesn't the moon always orbit on the same plane, regardless of TIn? And because the moon is at a lower orbital inclination than KSC you're always going to be launching to 90 degrees. Luckily though it's only a little bit lower so once you've made it to orbit the difference is negligible. At...
