The Orion II has had a very rough development cycle. In the fall of 2006 when the SimNASA Space Shuttle missions were discontinued, a new space program, called Orion was envisioned. Manned mission under Orion was to use this new spacecraft to conduct a variety of mission profiles to include: Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Moon Exploration Missions (MEM) and Mars Exploration Operations (MEO). Development was begun in earnest in the fall of 2006, but to a wide variety of issues delays, developer changes, and real world commitments postponed release of the project. In late 2008 the first version of the Orion II was released. Although capable, this model lacked various features to conduct the full range of mission envisioned under the initial project guidelines. Another version, the MARK II was redeveloped from scratch starting in October 2008. This project is a joint project of SimNASA â (Brad Hodges, Frank Inkaar, and Jose Rodriguez) In addition design inspiration was derived from Antonio Maia, Mark Paton, Adam Mitchel and a host of others. This package also includes a docking adapter as well as the Multipurpose Service Module System (MPSMS). This is a complete package, that is â everything needed to conduct LEO (Low Earth Orbit) missions is included. IMPORTANT NOTE: This package includes some modification to the ARES I. You should have the complete ARES I (ATV7) package installed before installation of this package.
