As some of you may know, the VSS Enterprise (SpaceShipTwo) has been undergoing captive carry tests over the last several months. On July 15th Scaled carried out the first crewed captive flight and the video of this beautifull ship is absolutely captiv-ating!!!

I haven't heard anything about this happening but:
Wouldn't the oil spill be the perfect application for a small, cheap, dedicated satellite that could be put together within months to monitor and measure the oil? If we can send sats to find minerals on other planets and moons shouldn't this...
With the success of the Falcon 9 I think it would be great if someone did a Velcro based Falcon rockets series along with a .dll based Dragon.
It could be pretty easy if Glider would grant use of his meshes in this addon

I love the idea that this is being studied again but I question the methods.
First they talk about the use of fusion propulsion which I think is questionable because we still don't even know if it is...
I know this is so beyond silly but again I was board, made it and thought I would post it for the communities amusment. :P
So this is a Nova MMS10E-1 with 5 cores and another one for the second stage.
Not sure what the max payload weight is but I know it can eject at least 500mt from Earth...

Just for fun. I've been bored so I made this scenario. Requires Velcro Rockets and the HL-20, both by Sputnik. The stock autopilot that comes with Velcro won't work so launch manually and see if you can put the HL-20 in orbit with enough fuel left for the de-orbit burn.

Anyone ever read Stephen Baxter's "Titan"? A very fun read
This article is quite scary. I am suprised that I haven't seen this on any dedicated space web sites. :jawdrops:

Today's volume of The Space Review includes an article written by the the former head of NASA's Exploration Systems Research and Technology program.
This article should be required reading for those participating in the current debate on the direction of NASA...
Proxima orbits Alpha Centari AB. It is one part in a larger triple star system, which may explain why it hasn't been found to have a wobble.

Posts moved to new thread here from Proxima Centauri add-on thread.
Just curious to see what the majority think. Do we prefer Constellation or Obama's new plan? Also if anyone has any other plausible ideas please post them.
And let's try to keep it friendly, no Obama or Bush bashing.
Despite a lot of miss labeled hype Obama has laid out a very exciting and realistic plan forward for the expansion of the human race into the solar system and I am happy to post that Buzz Aldrin has back that plan in a recent article.
The question of which to do first is a question heavily debated (at least in the states). Should we re-visit the moon and establish an outpost or show we go strait to Mars?
Took my family to the local air show at Nellis AFB today. We had a good time although the way they organized the parking was just plane dumb.
But I took a pic I'm really proud of with a crappy camera. Hope you all enjoy.
Hello all,
I have been using this unbelievably beautiful craft lately but have noticed a few bugs.
1) When flying from Overton to the Cape today, just west of the Mexican coast the paint job vanished and the craft turned white. See attached photo.
2) I get random CTD's when I switch from the...
Dennis Wingo posted this missive recently in On-Orbit entitled Beyond Augustine II. It is very thought provoking and I think he has the right idea. Was hoping to start a discussion on this among the Orbiter Community. There is also a link to this article on NASA WATCH. There are several...
