Except it would only use the control surfaces and RCS jets to adjust pitch (possibly roll) to maintain a given vertical speed.
It would be useful only in atmospheric flight.
Doing MACH 15 with the hover doors open has bad results.
Anybody consider making an MFD that can hold vertical speed in flight mode? This would mainly be used for the winged aircraft while ascending or during reentry. The MFD would also have to have reverse functionality during reentry.
I know its a huge task, creating MFDs, but I was hoping someone...
Hielor, thank for the help. the card was dirtier than I thought. I had been cleaning the system but not blowing out the heat sink. When I took the card out and looked into the sink it was almost completely clogged.
Hope I didn't ruin the card. I have run Orbiter several times since the cleaning...
TSpenguin, I get random lockups (full blown blue screen. MACHICE_CHECK_EXCEPTION errors) at different times but I can usually reproduce the error in Orbiter. At this point I dont see what else it could be.
I keep the inside of my system pretty clean but I think I will pull the card tonight...
Hello fellow Orbi-nauts, I am currently running an Nvidia GS 6800 and have been experiencing lockups lately. It happens most when complex graphics come into view but not all the time.
I am running XP on an AMD 64 3500, replaced the RAM last night (went from 1.5g to 2g matched memory) updated...
Genius, what do your config files look like for AFCS. In AutoFCS it does not give the option of a runway and I could not get it to do the deorbit burn.
On a positive note I am able to get it to control the ship post deorbit burn but it seems to come very short of the intended base.
Thanks
Ted
Has anybody been able to get AUTOFCS working with the XR5?
I have followed the direction per the suggestions on the forum but when I engage AUTOFCS the ship starts spinning out of control.
Fresh install and named the directory 'ORBITERSTS' still freaks out when I start it.
Thanks
Ted
linguofreak, I am more interested in using the the autopilot during ascent. Pitch/AOA hold on the winged aircraft require constant attention and in the real word they would probably have an autopilot that controls v/s with pitch and possibly engine gimbal.
The DGEX for instance can only climb...
Been having a problem lately and not quite sure what to do about it.
I'm 1 orbit away from my intended landing site, ready to do a retrograde burn. I hold down the '+' on the key pad to start the burn using main engines. When release the '+' key the main engins stay on. I have tried the '*'...
Anybody interested in making a simple autopilot that uses pitch (elevators, thrusters or both)to hold a given verticle speed while ascending (or decending into) in the atmosphere? This would be nice for Delta glider style ships during ascent and decent.
Anybody have an idea how hard this would...
Schimz, Love the DGEX. I think its one of the most realistic space plane addons.
I have a small suggestion for any future DGEX. It would be nice to have an autopilot that will hold v/s by adjusting pitch. It would sure make the DGEX alot easier to fly in to orbit. It could also have benifits...
tblaxland, any chance you could add a feature that would adjust pitch to hold a given ascent/descent rate? Forgive me if the question is outside the scope of this MFD.
Just wondering.
Ted
Has anybody heard if there is any work being done on a new DGEX?
I really love this addon and I thought I read a while back that someone or the author was working on a new version.
Thanks all
Have a happy re-entry!
Doug, I'm flying the XR5 and the XR1. I will try ctrl-*.
The reason I asked was, I use the hover engines when in orbit to adjust my inclination. I like to use the prograde AP then adjust my inclination with hover engines.
