    Mars first or Moon first?

I say go to the Moon first. Not only will it be a good place to practice for longer missions to Mars and scientific reasons. It will be a good place to start exploiting the resources to make space exploration economically viable. There's the H3 to start with who knows what else there might...

    Voyager Space Station

I would recommend the SeleneC. It holds plenty of fuel to fuel up ships headed to the Moon and such. And it also works well to hold the station in a level attitude, since it is big enough to torque around a lot of mass. It is hard to maneuver into docking though.

Problem Windows blue-screening on switching to externals

Yea 32MB won't cut it. I had that problem with my old machine. You could always run the 2003 version of Orbiter. That won't run the XR ships or the DGIV. But it will work fine with the DGIII.

    International Orbiter Space Station

Most likely you installed and ran the XR5 Vanguard or one of it's sister ships. For some reason that messes things up. The config files for all vessels should be in \config\spacecraft or \config\vessels not in \config. So check the \config\spacecraft folder for config files that are zero bytes...

C++ Question Dev C++ for orbiter

The full version of Visual Studio is available at http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/#webInstall. It's at the very bottom of the page. You can download it and burn it to a cd, or use DAEMON tools to read it like a cd. It does take a long time to install. It's best to start it up and go...

Basic Basic help with the Moon

I find the easiest way to get to the Moon is use IMFD5.2. It is best to be aligned with the Moon but you don't have to be. Just click MNU, then select Course. Highlight, "Target Intercept", and click on "Set". It will tell you to select a target. Click on "TGT", and type in Moon. Then click...

C++ Question Can't redraw standard MFD labels

error C2664: 'TextOutW' : cannot convert parameter 4 from 'const char *' to 'LPCWSTR' I had the same problem with something I'm working on. I pulled my hair out for days before I found the answer somewhere on the internet. It was one of the following settings in the project properties...

General Question Adding radio freqs to docks

Or you could use the Scenario Editor to add frequencies to the Hera. Just hit 'F4' and select 'custom' and click on "Scenario Editor". Also make sure it is activated under the 'modules' tab in Orbiter Launch Pad. And the readme file in the Polaris add on explains how to rotate the docking...

    IMFD Crazy numbers in IMFD.

I see. So since I'm just coming back from the Moon technically I'm in an elliptical orbit. Thanks. :hmm:

    IMFD Crazy numbers in IMFD.

I'm trying to use IMFD 5.1 Orbit Insert but I don't seem to be doing it right. It works real good when I use it to enter orbit around the Moon. But when I try to enter orbit around Earth I get some crazy number for the burn time. Am I missing something about setting it up. All the docs say is...

Question Some questions regarding SSBB and such

I found that when you load a fuel tank in the XR5 that tank will be used first by the XR5. If you look at the fuel gauge it will be in two different shades. If I want the tank to be full once reaching orbit I load it with the Universal Cargo Deck. And I use a URMS on the Dragonfly to dock the...

Flight Question SSBB and Centrifuge. ATTACH

Hello, I am building a space station in Earth orbit. It has a large fuel tank to refuel ships en route to the Moon and beyond. And it also has a Centrifuge to accommodate tourist. So the Centrifuge is essential. The docs I have for SSBB4.1 say to "ATTACH the Centrifuge Node Module...

Global Warming 2.0 (thread reopened; let's keep it civil)

It is naive to think that man has anything to do with it. There are Volcano's going off all the time spewing tons and tons of Co2 and noxious gases into the atmosphere everyday. They have been know to cover the earth with their fumes and ashes. I hardly think that we mere humans compare to...

Advice on converting a base from Orbiter 2005 to Orbiter 2006

It's not too hard. First you need to add "BASE-V2.0" to the config file. And then add the textures to earth.cfg.

    Saturn V 3rd stage.

I was wondering what happened to the Saturn V 3rd stage after it was used to shoot the astronauts toward the Moon, after all it wouldn't fall back to Earth so it had to go somewhere. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2002/20sep_mysteryobject.htm Maybe we could send a Delta IV to refuel it...
