Hopefully this is a simple question - I'm using the "Hera" from the awesome Ariane 6J, and it has 12 different docking ports. Unfortunately, none of them have a frequency assigned, so the dock HUD isn't locking on to a dock (the Dock MFD works correctly though), I just can't use the guidance display on the HUD to brings me in to a dock, instead, the guidance rectangles on the HUD take me to the center of Hera rather an any specific dock.

What file do I need to edit to add a frequency to a specific dock?

Also, is it possible to rotate dock orientations so that DG or Ravenstar wingtips don't clip each other? A simple rotation of the dock would do the trick.

Is that a simple matter, or do I need to actually edit the mesh (something I don't know how to do)?

After selection the dock from DockMFD's drop down menu (press the TGT button) you should be able to press the HUD button on DockMFD to get the HUD targeted also, even if it doesn't have an IDS frequency (IIRC Dock HUD autotargets whatever NAV1 is tuned to until you change it).

Or you could use the Scenario Editor to add frequencies to the Hera. Just hit 'F4' and select 'custom' and click on "Scenario Editor". Also make sure it is activated under the 'modules' tab in Orbiter Launch Pad.

And the readme file in the Polaris add on explains how to rotate the docking ports. Although I don't think you can use it on the Hera as it is written using spacecraft3.

Or you may edit scenario yourself and add XPDR and IDS
