News ‘MythBusters’ Accidentally Sends Cannonball Through House

And the ratings will drop below the cancellation threshold over half a season?

No, if anything something like this will cause the ratings to go up especially if they air the episode. However, the problem in the U.S is when things are successful and something goes wrong management, rather than risk a lawsuit, usually settles with the people involved and axes the program to prevent further lawsuits.

I'm sure the people involved in the mythbusters' accident have lawsuits pending right now against the Discovery Channel for public endangerment, destruction of property, etc. While I don't think it's enough to cancel the program I have a feeling there won't be anymore explosive myths.

i'd think they could just as satisfyingly take their exploding somewhere else.....

no need to stop blowing stuff up - just go do it far away from people and other similar annoyances

I think there's something to be said about their supervision as well. As this was the Alameda County Sheriff Department's bomb range, Sgt. J.D. Nelson was there at the range, as well as former FBI agent Frank Doyle (saw him in pictures Kari had posted on Twitter before the incident). I know for sure at least Nelson was also present in the 'Blow Your Socks Off' myth when they broke a few windows and knocked items off store shelves in the nearby town, and subsequently were banned from that particular quarry.

It sounds to me like they might also examine getting some different 'expert supervision.'

No, it means that people are breeding so wildly, that a poor cannonball has nowhere to fall without smacking into something or someone!

Okay, I'll take that one right between the eyes.

2007 was a good year though, wasn't it? :)

A lack of explosive myths might be in itself enough to cancel the program...
