2018 Monaco Grand Prix

Watched FP3 and quali. Verstappen played tag with the wall at the swimming pool chicane avoiding Sainz. The crash knocked him out of quali. Sounds like Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are pissed. For quali:Ricciardo, Vettel, Hamilton.

Max had the exact same crash 2 years ago. I think he might find himself with 2 weeks notice on Monday...

You clearly don't know he is the reason there are a large number of green advertising boards at the tracks for a certain beer company...
He is not going anywhere, and he is not getting any major penalties for what he does on-track (as history has shown).

I think this time was a bit different. The crash you’re talking about was as Max was climbing up from the lower city and attempting a pass. This time he was on a fast lap and had to avoid hitting Sainz who was on the driving line but not at speed. Max avoided Sainz but tagged the wall, snapped off his right front wheel and was a high speed projectile from that point on. It could have been a lot worse. Of late I’m not a fan of Max’s driving but this time I actually think it is an unfortunate racing incident.

I have to admit it is curious to have Heineken ads with the signage Don’t Drink and Drive:shrug:
I think the takeaway is that even under new ownership, F1 will take money from anyone willing to spend it

Having paid very little attention as of late, you are probably right.

I just hope Dan goes to a team that actually want him...

:hesaid:

Yea. Also the tires may have picked up dirt when he had to stray from the racing line.

This so much... I love Ricciardo even though I really don't like Red Bull as a team. The way they just sort of just decided to bench Kvyat and the fact Sainz seemed happy to bail on them just makes me thing it's a team of asses. I mean, wining is important in this sport and I can understand not discontinuing a racer for bad performance but there are levels of respect that are to be had doing so. That whole team just seems like such a carrot and a stick situation and it looks like they'll just dump anyone at first signs of trouble.

I of course have no idea if that's true or not - this is just how it looks to me on the outside, so I might just be talking out of my ass. I hope it's not bad and that Ricci loves it. The current F1 fanfics depict Rai retiring and Ricci going to Ferrari  but we'll see what happens till next year. I hope Rai continues racing - I just love the guy.

You should read Mark Webber's book. It is safe to say that all of what you said is basically true. If they could run a 1 car team, they probably would.
