4 Decades of Metal

"Metal Elvis"...okay, that was, different.

Does make me wonder why there haven't been more covers of Elvis tunes, though, some of them were really cool and could use an update. Marilyn Manson's covers of Sweet Dreams and Put a Spell on You show what a new take on a good song can do.

yeah my sister in law went to see them with her friend and I made fun of it without knowing. I was suprised to enjoy the tune. I do think the band has some talent despite the knockoff schtick.

Whiskey Six's Your Disease is the real deal though. Good solid band of twenty somethings.

Novelty Band: Metal Elvis - yeah I know, I was thinking the same thing...check out the video, it surprised me.

No novelty band, but goes into the same corner : Black Sweden.

And of course... there is always the Mambo Kurt. The organ god.

Because these three guys set the reference a bit high for just trying it. ;)

One of the best songs for Orbiteering, BTW, especially for landings in Edwards.

Damn you! you made me watch the whole thing because I was certain that any moment, something completely unexpected and amazing would happen, but no, it turns out to be nothing but an awfull performance!:lol:

The organ guy was really weak...and he had a packed house...thats sad. But I only watched about a minute of it :)

I've seen ZZ Top, thats not their best light but it wasn't tooo bad.

Black Sweden??? Not sure what to think abou them..a coer band? They mimic Abba?????

His performances are already for some years the warm-up on WOA. Just like the festival is opened by the Wacken Firefighters. It is really the dark heart of German Heavy Metal...with strange customs and wild natives.

Sure, the stuff on the Double Down live DVD is way better... but the song is still great for hitting the highway.

Yeah, exactly. They not only cover ABBA, but also mix it with popular hardrock and metal tunes. It is just a big joke.

BTW... why does the Metal Elvis version of Viva Las Vegas sound so much like the Dread Zeppelin version?

I never knew there were so many metal subgenres.
Me neither. Personally, I think some people get a little carried away with their classification - in reality that graph should be covered in blurry lines... Anyway, maybe there are some new tools for organising playlists in there :P

EDIT:
Happy birthday and welcome to hell.:cheers:
Speak for yourself - life is better for me now than it was ten years ago, in many ways :)

Can't say its worse than ten years ago now... but it is pretty annoying being too old for the cool stuff and too young for the stuff that older people do.

If you're like me, you just refuse to act your age. That's why I still listen to metal!

Heck, Ronnie Dio was 67 when he died, and he had no intention of stopping, nor did he show many signs of age until the cancer got him.
