A Different Type of Virtual Space Agency?

What about, as first design exercise, create a Venus lander mission?

do you mean people in the academy would make the venus lander mission or fly it

Designing it would be the primary goal, but you would get to fly it in the end. However I wouldn't make something as complicated as a Venus lander for an academy mission, I would do something simpler like a lunar orbiter.

As for the main agency, a long-term Venus lander would be an interesting project. I think the longest surviving Venus lander so far was only 110 minutes.

ok piper when you gonna get started if you do what to make a new space agency

I'm going to set up a forum and a site this weekend. Any suggestions on a name? I was thinking of the "International Orbiter Space Agency."

I like "International Orbiter Space Agency".

As start projects, what about planning two missions?

Beginner level: Moon orbiter
Advanced level: Long term Venus exploration

For the Venus exploration, what about using a airship like design, which can raise again to cooler atmosphere layers for cooling?

One code project, which could make sense for both projects: A realistic satellite framework, which can get edited by configuration file entries.

i know its supossed to be a different type of space program but if some members wanted to could they recreate some nasa missions if they felt like it.

PS:you said you whur gonna create the website and stuff over the weekend well did you

I can't speak for Piper but I would suggest you join/create a different VSA for that. I think Piper is seeking originality in the missions and addons that have never been done before. If there are really enough members interested in this, a new VSA seems appropriate. Afterall, I see no problem with being a member of more than one VSA.

As Quick_Nick has already pointed out, there are already other VSAs that do just that, and I don't have a problem with people being a part of more then one agency. The whole point about the IOSA is that it is about the development, not just the flying. What's to develop if somebody else has already done it?

Unfortunately real-life intervened. A co-worker called in sick, and they needed me to work, and with it being a 12-hour night shift starting on a Saturday night, it pretty much killed both the night and all of Sunday.

However, since I was planning to hand over the management of the website itself to someone else anyways, is there anybody who wants to join the IOSA who is good with websites? I already one a site at www.ioss.ca (its from my old space station, hence the different acronym, and the ".ca" part), and for the meantime we can use that.

well alright are you going to edit the website you already own so that has all the stuff for the new agencie

At the moment I'd like to see if anybody else is willing to do the website and become webmaster (while I can make websites, I'm nothing compared to others around here). If nobody else does, I'll start one, and somebody else can pick up the website later.

In the meantime, does anybody have any ideas on a logo?

Hello!
I would be happy to partcicipate in this project. I will gladly participate in making website, but will can probably not be webmaster. I can html and php. I think, it is necessary to decide, what your website should be.

Piper> nice website. It was entertaining to watch mission-report screenshots. Good work on that iOss.

This is what I have in mind so far for the logo, the shape is roughly based on gaal's design.

As for the website, I think I'll make it, and then find somebody else to manage it and become webmaster after. In the mean-time, I've created a forum for the agency: http://iosa.forumwww.com

wow piper nice logo and cool forum i dont have time to register for it right now but i do know quick nick was the first to register (i read the welcome post were quick nick said first) but quick nick let me just say this i was the first to read and post on this thread so HA HA and HA

Cool, now I'm "Agnecy Member". Looking forward to mission organization
