:idea:I really like the AI vehicles in UCGO, but think it should be also implemented to aircraft. I was thinking about aircrafts that would be controlled with a controller to automatically launch, orbit, and do planetary transfers, as well as docking and landing. A method to do this could be like the AI vehicles in UCGO, or launch autopilots, and docking autopilots, or your space travel could just be recorded and played back at set time through the controller. This would be a better alternate to online space flying because hundreds of spacecraft and land vehicles could be generated using a point system, which would replace the spacecraft.

I know there had been a problem with the animation of a spacecraft when generated, I am not sure if their animations could be controlled in Orbiter 2006, or if their animations can now be controlled in Orbiter 2010.

What do you guys think about the idea?

Sounds great! But there are a few concerns:
  1. The AI should only be at planets that you specify.
  2. Multistage vessels would be a problem for littering their stages all over, but they would almost be necessary.
  3. Vessels should delete them selves after so long on the ground and then after so much more time they should spawn again to redo the mission.
  4. How would anyone get a AI program to rendezvous with a space station and dock. Could you imagine the amount of programing it would take to get that to work.

We already have launch auto pilots and docking auto pilots so we only need to get it to get the right launch heading altitude and timing.

A "secret project" that i'm working on has a 100% re-programmable main computer (non lua, sorry :<), I'm positive that some bright spark will add AI to it someday (hell, I might do it myself even!).
