Greetings Fellow Space Primates!

This will sound a bit crazy but has anybody ever seen anything in orbiter and wasn't sure what it was?

I know the code is accessible and scene files should list everything that is in a scene. But, then again, it is programming and maybe someone hid some nice surprises in certain missions/scenarios?

Just wondering if anybody ever caught a fleeting glimpse of a saucer out the view port or stumbled across alien artifacts on the moon or mars? Or other crazy stuff?

Would it even be possible to hide things like that in the programming so that they were a surprise?

See, I told you it was a silly question! :embarrassed:

I think I know what you're talking about. It was on the moon in 2001 and it emitted a noise to Jupiter !

Martin could have hidden something in the textures; there wouldn't be any extra files associated with it, then. But for the most part it's hard to hide things in Orbiter.

The Ravenstar alien reminds me of the old Lucasarts Atari 5200 game "Rescue on Fractalus":

That guy looks like he needs a ride.

He needs a ride real, real bad.

:)

It was around three or four years ago, that I read on the old forum about someone seeing something something near Uranus. Normally I wouldn't put much stock into just that one instance, but then I am pretty sure someone else posted about seeing something around there too. I think it was eventually resolved as just a graphical bug or something, that they had, but you never know... ;)

Hm...Uranus, eh?

Maybe I'll fire up Deepstar2 or Event Horizon and go have a look/see.

LSS-Photon and the UFO ([ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1951"]UFO[/ame]) are also good choices for this historic journey. Beware that if you use LSS-Photon I warn you to stop it at Uranus using the gravity tool by Artlav or you'll reach Pluto or nearby after hitting the retro engines at light speed.

i do not beleave that their are easter eggs in orbiter.

however that's an idea for orbiter 2010.

For unlimited lives:

- do a triple-slingshot around Venus, then crash into Triton at a vertical velocity of exactly 123 m/s.
- fast forward to year 125000, and write down the message from Vega received at the forward observation station on Europa (you may have to battle the alien invasion force to get there).
- create a deltaglider whose name is composed of the initial letters of the words of the message, land it on Mercury, and wait for the sun to explode.
- hey presto!

Ha ha ha/ That's a good one.

So then what's the benefit in unlimited lifes when you can't die anyways? :P

Not worried about infinite lives but those planet bounces really hurt ;)

Use antimatter weapons to blow the planets to smithereens, no problem with planet bouncing. :P
