I just got my new computer and i put orbiter on it and everything works great except amso which lags so much it is unplayable but everything else works great even with fraps on why is this?

What sort of frame rates do you get with other vessels, eg, standard Delta-Glider? I know on my PC the frame rate drops to about 3 fps when landing on the moon with AMSO, due to the dust kicking up (which can be turned off, BTW).

When in Orbiter press "f" to display the frame rate in the top right hand corner of the screen.

EDIT: What sort of graphics hardware does you PC have?

with delta glider , xr2 etc around 20 and 30 fps with amso its down to about 5 fps but it only does this when the CSM in in the game if i delete it in the scenario editor only the LEM is left and the fps is good

as for software i think i have a NIVADA GeForce FX 5200
i have 1gb ram and 200gb harddrive

Make sure that you're set to "Hardware T & L" in the video (I think) tab of the launchpad. Also, set it to always enumerate devices, that helps sometimes.

BTW, the Framerate module needs to be enabled in the Modules tab before it will work ingame.

Not it doesn't. Your FPS is always available for viewing by simply pressing the "F" key. It isn't dependant on the Framerate module. All that one does is implementing a custom dialog module for FPS logging. Nothing else.

thanks guys now my fps for amso is 12 but its playable
I have a FX5200 too and the performance sounds comparable. Check your anti-aliasing settings in the Nvidia control panel too. I found anything more than 2x would have a pretty significant frame rate impact.

where is the nivada control panel

BTW i noticed that i have amso 1.17 are there any major differences between 1.17 and 1.18

Then it seems you don't have original nvidia drivers installed. Go to nvidia.com and get their latest drivers.

thanks for all your help i set the antialiasing to 0 and it works great
