I have a question regarding the Apollo sims out there. Which one is beter, AMSO, or NASSP? Should I have both, nether?

It's really a matter of personal preference; AMSO, to me has better visuals and graphics, but I find NASSP more techy, more "realistic" in a way. NASSP allows me to run through full checklists flipping switches all over the place, last time I checked AMSO doesn't do that.

I have both, but use NASSP more.

If I remember correctly (I dont use either, i'm not that advanced :P ), AMSO is good for graphics, but only uses j, k, and the l key (I think it's l), while NASSP has a bunch of switches and buttons. So, like Xyon said, it's all about preference.

AMSO if you want to fly Apollo missions in Orbiter, NASSP if you want to fly Apollo missions realistically. If you're looking for beautiful, well-designed Apollo craft that won't take days at a time to fly (10x time compression at the most for NASSP), AMSO.

That being said, I love NASSP and I had a LOAD of fun flying Apollo 8 by the checklists.

NASSP own Saturn IB for Apollo 7 and ASTP. The trouble is that the pads do not have many details by default, but manages to add pads. Is more technical, and I like that is more realistic than AMSO.

Each of these two add-ons has a separate aim. NASSP aims to re-create the Apollo vessels in detail. It has the switches that need to be flipped at the right times, etc. if you are looking to "stir the tanks", NASSP is for you.

AMSO focuses on re-creating the mission details. This includes the in-flight and lunar EVA's. There is equipment to deploy, rocks to gather, and you can do back flips! Really!! Even the damage and return of Apollo 13 is simulated if you wish.

There's no reason not to fly both, depending on what your mood at the moment to decide.

NASSP 7 simulates Apollo 13 pretty well, too. Not sure about previous versions, 7 was the first one I used.

I don't see why they don't get around to combining the two -- AMSOSSP! -- and have an ultra-realistic mission profile for demanding dorks such as myself. Scenario 8172: Buzz's EKG leads on his biomed sensor go wonky during trans-Earth coast and you have to swap them out (yes, this really happened). Man, I wish I could code add-ons. I would annoy you folks to death....

Like others said AMSO is good when you want to simulate an easy Apollo mission. It has nice graphics and models.
NASSP is excelent to simulate an full and realistic mission. With checklists and switches for the systems.
I like both in their own way. And I use them both. Sometimes I just want to get to the moon with Apollo. Then I use AMSO. And make a nice lunar EVA.
But also I use NASSP when I want to realistic simulate a mission.

I have both installed, each has their own purpose.

AMSO focuses on re-creating the mission details. This includes the in-flight and lunar EVA's. There is equipment to deploy, rocks to gather, and you can do back flips! Really!! Even the damage and return of Apollo 13 is simulated if you wish.

While I agree that both addons currently have their separate merits and are worth downloading, it's worth noting that NASSP is working towards recreating mission details once the vessels are done.

i would even pay to have the exterion and scenario from AMSO, and to have the NASSP 2d cockpit that would be very :speakcool:
