Hello everyone,
Do you know how should I make the pre-countdown audio? I thought in what sample rate and bitrate? And also, where can I find the pre-countdown audio except for Internet Archive and of course, Youtube? Thanks.

For the bitrate you should use the lowest possible bitrate that still sounds reasonable good.
Because 'original' late 60ies audio is often not that high quality it doesn't make any sense to store it in 44kHz stereo or something.
The lower that bitrate, the smaller the file will become.

For the general AMSO Pre-countdown file, you should get all the needed information from the documentation ("AMSO-User-manual.doc" chapter "Sound customization", page 45 ff.)

By the way: Whenever you use audio from other sources, make sure you have the right to redistribute it.

If I do that, will it work? Because it didn't work before.

Hi again,

If I do that, will it work? Because it didn't work before.
Hmmm what did you do and what did not work?

When you like to make a pre-countdown sound for example for Apollo 14 you have to do/know some things:

  1. The sound files (wav) must be placed under "Sound\AMSO\AS-509" folder.
This is of course only valid for our Apollo-14 example, for other (Saturn V) missions the naming scheme is as follows:
    AS-503 Apollo 8
    AS-504 Apollo 9
    AS-505 Apollo 10
    AS-506 Apollo 11
    AS-507 Apollo 12
    AS-508 Apollo 13
    AS-509 Apollo 14
    ...
  2. The name for the pre-countdown file must be pre-countdown.wav
From the AMSO documentation: "[...]pre-countdown.wav (must start exactly 5 minutes before liftoff and have a duration of not more than 4mn 50sec)[...]"
  3. The format of the wav file can be anything (but as said don't make it too "hi-fi", that just wastes bandwidth).
The included files in the AMSO package for example are mainly "11025Hz mono" wave-files.
  4. Last but not least, you have to install and enable OrbiterSound.
This should not be forgotten ;)

Hope this helps,
Kuddel

I have another question: Where can I find the pre-countdown audio except for Internet Archive, which hosts large files with a duration of about one hour. Are there any smaller files?
