When trying to re-enter with Thorton's Soyuz TMA I'm a bit confused on when to start the deorbit burn. In the manual it says "Deorbit burn should be started when angular distance to target on MapMFD will be about 167 degrees."
I can't seem to figure out what this angular distance is and how to figure it out. It might be something very obvious that I'm missing.

Thanks

Sounds like they're referring to distance around Earth. A longitudinal distance of 167 degrees sounds like a good approximation if not what is exactly meant.

You can get this from OrbitMFD. There is a number amongst the others (TrL, True Longitude) that ranges from 0 to 360° as you orbit the planet. When you make 360°, you have achieved a full orbit. 180°, a half-orbit. Etc...

So copy down the number when you fly over the landing site, and substract 167° from it. You'll get the coordinates of your deorbit burn.
