Trivia question: anyone know what kind of car the crew is riding on in the parade photo?

My favorite is the black and white Earth photo. I've never seen that one before, and it has a nice dark brooding look to it. Like Earth in an alternate universe, where there really is a Gotham City and a Dark Knight called Batman...

Only 3 built in '53, and two of them still see occasional parade useage. The other is in a museum.

What an odd coincidence, since cj's thread about the canceled Fox sci fi show featured a spacecraft named Phaeton!

Linking back through that wiki article you find the history of "phaeton" vehicles including horse-drawn carraiges and the word itself, which refers to the son of Helios, the sun god.
