Hi all!

Again I used the search function but did not get my answers. Sorry for starting a new thread for this but perhaps there are other users with the same problems.

So I love the arrow freighter (in case Danstep is reading this: Awesome Job! :tiphat:) but there are two things which bother me:

1. Is there any chance to get the crew from the DGIV to the Arrow Freighter?
When I put the DGIV in Safe Mode and the Computer says "Crew boarded the mother ship" they do not appear in the Arrow Freighter.

2. I have a DGIV docked to Dock 1 in the Bay. When I Quicksave my game, close Orbiter and load this Savegame the DGIV is undocked. Why?! :-(

Thanks for you answers/tips!

Greetings,

Chris

Don't use safe mode. Just power down the DG, transfer the crew and leave the DG-IV.
Safe mode is only for those extreme maneuvers where it might break, when it's docked to the arrow it's fine.

I tried this BUT when I EVA the Crew the float somewhere and are invisible  Is this a special bug with my computer?! :)

BTW: I forgot to mention that the Arrow Freighter tells me that Dock 1 is free but the DGIV is docked. Is this normal?

If you "EVA" while docked to the Arrow, than you transferto the Arrow, that's what is needed ;)

And no, this is not. Can you paste here your scenario's content ? (after the docking, do a quicksave, open it with Notebook, and copy-paste in CODE tags here)

Safe mode tells you that the crew has boarded the mothership, but it lies. The crew remain in the vessel in suspended animation (consuming no resources,) until safe mode is disengaged. This is fine if you don't need those crewmembers for anything else. Just pretend they're on board. Otherwise, what Gary mentioned should suffice (though in that case, be wary of reentry, as the DG-IV still thinks it is in flight, and may explode in the hangar bay!)

Hi SolarLiner!

Yeah... I thought that this is a bug!
They float somewhere... one even ended up in the gravity wheel!

Thats a lot of code...

You have a space. That's what is confusing it.

Code:
DOCKINFO 0:0,USCSS KOLOSS

So the DG thinks it's docked to a vessel called USCSS and discards the KOLOSS bit. This is confusing orbiter.

Changing the arrows name to USCSS_KOLOSS, Redock the DGIV and try again.

This almost certainly what is causing your second issue with the quicksave. Never give a vessel a name with a space in it.

And that's why you can't really EVA with UMmu: it doesn't supports vessels with space in their names.
Same for the DGIV, use the underline "_" instead ;)

Ohhh.... :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

The thing is... I allready read this somewhere. Damn!

Thank you guys! I'll give it a try tomorrow and will give you a feedback!

This is confusing orbiter.

A little niggle... Orbiter is fine with spaces in vessel names. It couldn't care less. It's only the addon's fault in being unable to parse and process those names correctly. UMMU and related addons aren't alone in this, either. In fact, it seems many of the major addons are unable to handle spaces in vessel names reliably, making it seem like Orbiter's core can't.

We must write a new standard.

So I tried this real quick this morning... and? Tadaaa! It works!
Thanks guys! You helped me a lot!

Hey guys!

So last week I succeded in traveling to Jupiter (woohoo!). Also I landed on Europa and constructed a little base.
As the Arrow freighter is not able to land with a docked DGIV I did this: Travel to my final destination and hover the Freighter in about 5,000 metres. Transfer a pilot to the DGIV, power it up and make it ready for undocking. Open the Freighters bay doors. Then simply undock and land the Glider.

My question to you guys: How realistic is this? Could a docking port handle this?

Greetings,

Chris

I am not sure I follow this, I perform EVAs with Ummus ALL the time, and without any issues. You shouldnt have spaces in your Ummus anyway, because you follow the manual and onscreen prompts and only set name, age, and position using the shift-R command.

I dont think the docking port could take the strain of the DGIV as all off its weight is on the one docking port. In real life i think it would break.
