I wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured this was the closest fit...

Anyway, I've been looking at a lot of history in regards to Shuttle missions and general history of NASA and space flight in general since the last launch is drawing near. I noticed that every mission has a patch, and based on this I thought I would mock up a patch for a hypothetical mission to the Moon and Mars using the XR5. In this design, VTS is an acronym for Vanguard Transfer Services. Also, the names I just pulled out of hat, they don't really refer to any real individuals, and "Davis" is emphasized here because of his or her role as the mission's commander.

See what you think. :)

Good logo art works as both colour and black and white images... (and ideally can be expressed as solid colours as this example is) so these are both very nice images, b&w is just showing the design works well for old fashioned printing.

Surprised we don't see more of this type of artwork to be honest, i made one for the xr2 beta team a few years... You should show your patch design to Doug and Russ, i'm sure they'd enjoy it.

btw i attached a small version of my patch artwork here incase you were interested, i hope you dont mind.

I've made quite a few mission patches for various VSA's heres some of them. Not all of them, not all the missions have been announced yet ;)

STS-200 for VOSSA
Soyuz-TMA-32M for WSA
DRAGON-01 and STS-300 for ASA
(Notice the STS-300 shuttle says "ASA" and "Discovery" instead of "NASA" and "Challenger" which it used to be originally)

Tell me if you want me to design one. I like to stay busy. They get done soon though.

Cheers!

And of course hail the probe :hailprobe:

What software do you guys use to make the patches?

Do you have a link, or should I just Google it?

It's free, but you need to create an account. I also use fotoflexer for photo editing and sometimes i use paint to create an object to insert in to the patch. But this is good for creating anything, for instance that logo you needed on the shuttle. BTW, how well did that go?

Oh, the patches are awesome! These first three look very nice. They look like "real"! :10sign:

Here's one I put at the end of the Deepstar doc:

I thought it would be a nice idea to get an actual Orbiter patch manufactured to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the sim although that moment has passed now. Still, I bet an official Orbiter patch, perhaps made by one of the graphic designers here, would be the most popular item in the Orbiter store.

I'm a professional idiot, I'm studying to be a moron. Meanwhile I go to Webster in an ITM program, I'm an amature designer, part time in Illustrator CS4, and 3DS Max.
I thought I would contribute to the pool...

Cool, I haven't followed your thread about Gateway in a while. How's that coming along?

It's hard to get answers from knowledgeable folks, you would think it's easy, after all over 400 posts a day in this forum, but serious questions that I have posted have gone unanswered.

re: station status, I've had a setback in available time, my boss thinks after 4 years of goofing off at work, doing colledge home work, and building my space station, that maybe I need to actually earn my paycheck. I'm still working on textures and meshes, I got a response back from the instructor at MCD. They want $3500.00 USD for a 2 day custom class. NO WAY!, I don't have that kind of money. I need to learn how to use the 3DS Max program via tutorials, so it will take some time to figure out the complex shapes. Meanwhile I'll be working on the easy ones untill I get better.

Thanks for asking, kind sir!

It's no problem, I've been looking forward to this. Keep up the good work!

Cheers!
