Where does the ammo come from, and how is it fed into the weapon? Seems that you can't very well route the ammo through the wings due to the rotors...
I suspect the cannon would look better (and probably more realistic) if they were mounted on the fuselage...

That was experiment - I modelled this gun in like 15-20 minutes. Feed belt is currently under the wing (behind the rotor) and leads to fuselage where I can store ammo in UCGO box. I'll come up with better armanent arangement later however I'd like to use double 7 barrel x 30mm gatling.

It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures, but are the pylons pointed straight down or at an angle? Seems to me that having them be at an angle could result in loads they're not really designed to handle...

Well, I'm just thinking from real pylon mounts out there--pretty much none of them are at angles. The pylon is presumably a lot stronger when straight. When you're carrying a heavy load on the thing and you pull a high-gee maneuver, that four-hundred-pound load of fuel is suddenly a sixteen-hundred-pound load pulling slantwise on the pylon...

Woo482 is working on AHFS (Augmented Hover Flight System). Basically it's autopilot/fly-by-wire system that will limit roll and pitch to 10 degrees and return to horizon level when no key is pressed. In combination with "hold alt" autopilot it will make VTOL very easy to fly at low altitudes (SAR missions for example).
Although not finished yet (only pitch is implemented for now and AP is bit wobbly) I must say that it really improves precission flying.
Also fuel tanks will be implemented as separate vessels so you can design and write cfg file for them. AV will be able to drain fuel from them, then detach them on command. Also external pylons can be used to carry small payloads that can be dropped from the craft (consumable/medical packs etc).

Well, the starfighter fell out of the sky anyways, so I guess it didn't matter if the pylons didn't hold that long :lol:
