"upgrade" because I don't what else to call it.

I'm getting tired of the default Pad 39 A/B and its lack of detail.

edit: changed title to reflect current dilemma

Hmm, you're asking a lot of questions recently.

In actual answer to your question, I used the SEARCH function on Orbit Hangar Mods, and found [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2787"]this one[/ame] looked the best. Also, I think there is one packaged into the International Space Station v3.2, but if I read correctly you can only use it for ISS-specific missions.

Yeah, Kev33's looks real good, but you'll need to move the position around to get it to line up.

I use Slats LC-39. Can be used with Shuttle Fleet from some nice launch effects. And it looks very good. And comes with Edwards AFB. And is all one piece, which makes moving it around quite easy.

And White Sands is included in the Slat's LC-39 too!

How do you move Slat's or kev33's LC39 to the proper place?

and for some reason, the surface tiles turn white.

Anyone know a fix?

I just moved the pad in the scenario editor. Kev33's is a liittle harder to move because it is in several parts, three I believe, and moving them in tandem I found difficult. Slat's is easy to move.

Also, it seems that both Slat's and kev33's pads have their own Earth config files. That can cause a problem.

I just use thorton's LC-39, which is basically the Slat LC-39 but a vessel.

You mean

, right?

edit: The question is, what is the best solution for having a better quality pad without messing up the surface tiles?

The Slats pad with ISS 3.2 is the best in my opinion. Does not do anything to the surface tiles. But you need to use the shuttle bay payload thing so that you get the automatic sequence to work with the shuttle's launch. Also adds some other stuff. Specific attachment points for particular missions, bay lights effect (which is no longer neccessary as the SHuttle Fleet 4.8 now has it on its own) max q effect, and some landing effects.

I would back up your files if you are afraid of ill side-effects, but just follow what these pads are doing in their own seperate systems, and duplicate them.

But these pads are not part of the scenery. Parts may be, but with Slat's, it is a spacecraft3 vessel, so you just drop the pad into the scenario and there it is.

If you want to go further and include slat's Edwards AFB, then you just need to include the base in your base Earth.cfg file, or drop the base into the Earth/base folder.

I want something that adds a detailed launch pad (replacing the default base scenery), but doesn't put it in a new Earth config or change the Cape Canaveral surface tiles.

the method I laid out using Thorton's ISS does just that. Delete the default pads from the Canaveral base, and place the new pads in your scenario. Viola. No new surface tiles, and no new Earth config required.
