Hi all,
I've recently run into a bit of a problem when attempting to construct my first custom star system. I've been able to achieve stable orbits for all 7 celestial bodies present, working planet textures, orbiting spacecraft, and established several surface bases with landed spacecraft. However, when I attempt to add a rover or UMMU to any of the surface bases in-system, I cannot move these objects a millimeter without bouncing them 100 to 200m off of the planet's surface.
Thus far, I've tried changing the scenario MJD parameter closer to Jan. 1, 2001 (as per another post on this forum) and forcing the UMMU to a landed state via the scenario editor, each with little success. I am beginning to wonder whether or not my time propagation settings for the simulation may not be to blame for this observed behavior. I've appended the necessary gravitational and simulation parameters for my latest test below:
------------------------
Gravitational Parameters:
------------------------
Star Mass: 2.088555e+30 kg
Planet Semi-major Axis: 137725039286 km
Planet Mass: 4.904406e+24 kg
Planet Radius: 5.236473e+6 km
Ummu Mass: 250 kg
Satellite 1 Semi-major Axis: 198470000 km
Satellite 1 Mass: 6.025114e+21 kg
Satellite 2 Semi-major Axis: 363110000 km
Satellite 2 Mass: 5.156466e+22 kg
Satellite 3 Semi-major Axis: 492030000 km
Satellite 3 Mass: 1.5887226e+22 kg
----------------------
Simulation Parameters:
----------------------
Linear State Propagators: RK8
Step limit times: 0.50, 20.00, 100.00 s
----------------------
Angular State Propagators: RK8
Step limit times: 1.00, 10.00, 100.00 s
Step limit angles: 1.0, 4.0, 10.0 deg
Target angle step: 20 deg
Max steps: 100
Cross-axis coupling suppression after: 30.0 deg
Torque Suppression after: 3600.0 deg
-----------------------
Orbit Stabilization: Enabled
Enabled for orbit steps larger than: 0.02% of full orbit
Stabilization suppressed for gravity perturbations greater than: 5% of total field
Target orbit step: 2% of full orbit
Max steps: 10
Suppress nonspherical gravity perturbations for orbit steps greater than: 5% of full orbit
-----------------------
Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.
