Anyone remember this game? Would it be possible to do some similar add-on for Orbiter, but more user involvement with flying the missions. The vehicles all appear to be available already. :beach:

I love Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space! It is a really difficult game, though, even on easy.

i downloaded it about a month ago and i got to say for a game 10 years old its good i was hooked

I too love playing this sim - is there a way to play it in full screen ?

I'm still waiting for a simulator of "Buzz Aldrins Punch into Face" where you play Buzz, beating the crap out of overzealous morons in a first person view.

Man, funny!

That reminds me...some wacko punched John Glenn a few years back, maybe 15 or so? (It wasn't Buzz Aldrin who did it.) Anyone got a video of John getting punched?!

MT

What? And former Marine Glenn didn't hit him back?

I like the BAPIF idea, the Nintendo Wii has a boxing game that is quite fun, and it would be more fun if the opponent looked like Sibrel.

Now I know why it's so hard to find a reference to this. The punch to Sen. Glenn's face happened in the "pre-internet" days, back in 1989:

Yes definitely, BAPIF would be GREAT! Maybe as an orbiter add-on, I dunno...MFD?!

Buzz Aldrin didn't really KO that reporter. It was all done in a movie studio. Buzz Aldrin lacks the computing capacity to punch a reporter.

I've got a question...

With all these mentions of BARIS on this forum... why don't I ever see a link to the Race Into Space project on SourceForge? (Same game, updated to run under Windows, OSX or Linux, rather than thru an emulator, just without Buzz' name on it.) I'm sure that's what at least a few of the people talking about it have... or is everybody getting the old DOS version off "abandonware" sites? Some folks might be more interested in checking it out if they know there's a legal way to get it.

I use the Race Into Space project version ... it is much better and BTW: Done by the almost same people. It is based on the old BARIS sources.

Ya, i use the "RIS"-project too... so i can run it on me mac ^^

Still havin problems assigning crew to a manned program though... :/

Which selection difficulty level do you play with?

I got stuck in the game. Can annyone tell me how to develop a docking program?

All you need to do is purchase the Docking Module. The only way you can up its reliability is by attempting actual docking missions, you can't R&D it up like other components and hardware.

Every failed docking ups its reliability 5%(I believe) and every successful docking ups its reliability 10%(I believe).
