Britain's most secretive organisation - GCHQ - has added a cryptic twist to Christmas card season by including a baffling brainteaser.

This year spy agency director Robert Hannigan is sending out a complex grid-shading puzzle inside his traditional Christmas cards of the nativity scene.

Shouldn't take long....

Well, it's a QR code with a link to a page that appears to be DDoS-ed right now.

Maybe they are just busy with terrorists...

gchq.gov.uk is currently unavailable, possibly due to ongoing issues with JISC.

Sweet! I just had a wisdom tooth removed, so the timing is perfect. Now i can check if I lost some of my wisdom.

Got about half of it done, but it's getting harder as I go along... :uhh:

I'd be happy to give it a go.. if they made the bloody numbers readable..
Otherwise I'm not going to waste my time deciphering 'garbage'.
:tiphat:

Isn't this just Picross?

(I never knew how to do these kinds of puzzles, but I think I recognize the type)

Picked up this again, and there's a pattern emerging.

Isn't this just Picross?
It's only "complex grid-shading puzzle" for journalists. For the elderly it's "daily routine", for math-inclined people it's a "Nonogram", for the GCHQ it's "first stage filter".

Btw, anyone got any luck accessing the page?
By now it loads the title (Director GCHQ's Christmas Puzzle - Part 2), but won't load any further.

Looks like I didn't get past the first-part filter...still, its nice being on the sunny side of the bell-curve.

Almost finished and noticed I messed up somewhere along the way....
Start again.

Finished!!!! I did the 2º try over the 1º one and only found one error... I guess this thing isn't error tolerant.
Now, I could show the answer... but then I would have to kill you .
I'm joking, here it is (I'm not inserting the image because spoilers...).
