im completely new to this forum and really new to orbiter. im having trouble figureing oout the carina satalite fix. how do i grapple it and fix it? all i can do is get it with the space shuttle and thats as far as i can get.

If you're refering to the scenario under Space Shuttle Atlantis in the launchpad, though I've never run that scenario, I don't think you're supposed to grapple it. Rather, It looks as though you're supposed to EVA in order to do the fix.

:welcome: to the forum, by the way.:)

ohok. yes thats the one im talkin about. umm how do ya fix it. i can eva out to it. but then i get lost from that point on:thankyou: for the welcome

I believe you just move out to it and hang around for a while before returning to the Shuttle, pretending to have done a hard day's work.

The Carina vessel doesn't do anything; it's a simple configuration file with few parameters other than mass and an attachment point.

Like Aeadar, I haven't run the scenario.

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum, by the way. :)

Yep. I just ran it and I gotcha now, Rocketdued, ya can't grapple carina with the EVAd astronaut. Same thing for me. I believe Izack is correct.

You may want to try the DGIV with the MKTSat, (I think it's called) as payload. At least with that you can release the satellite, EVA, maneuver to and grapple it, and actually input a string of commands to activate the thing. Quite enjoyable compared to just floating there next to Carina and then coming back. Especially after launching and getting to your desired deployment orbit.:)
