Massive 8.2 earthquake near Chile two hours ago.
~2m high waves reported in one coastal city. Tsunami threat to others areas is being investigated.

Tsunami advisory in effect for Hawaii. Larger than average waves and potentially strong currents expected to arrive in six hours.

6 known to be dead, mostly from heart attacks and falling objects. Nearly one million people were evacuated. 300 people escaped from a women's prison and only a few have been caught.

Tsunami warnings are all over. An advisory is still in effect for Hawaii as waves reach the islands right about now.

The earthquake now has an intensity of IX for the 'Did You Feel It Index' indicating Violent shaking and Heavy damage. The automatically generated predictions for the earthquake instead predicted 47k people exposed to intensity VIII shaking.

Data shows 2ft waves a couple of times in Hawaii.

7.6 aftershock, this time epicenter is on land and near Iquique.
Expect much of the same news as for the main earthquake. But luckily evacuations have been going on so hopefully we won't see any more deaths.

It's incredible how many damage-causing scale earthquakes have occurred in the last two days at Chile. (looks like dozens)
