Hello
My question is do you think its possible to set up a company like Virgin Galactic in Europe from zero? Why not? Why yes?
And do you know how Virgin Galactic gets the fund money?
The enterprise wants to be self funded or it gets money from the other Virgin Companies?
If it's self funded do you think it's possible to get the money the same way in Europe?

Thanks

It's possible to set up any company you like but you will need cash to get the company started. In the UK it's possible to register a company at companies house for less than £100 pounds. There are various requirements for registering a company which need to be understood and it can be expensive in terms of registering accounts, etc.

The problem is getting funding from other companies - Why would they give you money?

To start charter flights to Pluto or Alpha Centauri?

I don't know the entire history of the company, but since it has the backing of the "Virgin" brand, I'd say it's safe to assume that Richard Branson has provided most of the start up capital and initial funding much like Elon Musk's investment in SpaceX. VG also a partnership with Scaled Composites which actually built the SpaceShipOne, tested it, and was responsible for flying it. I'm not sure if VG is in a partnership with them the way Boeing is with the airline companies or if they just outright bought the SSII/WKII from them.

If your looking for a company that's about as close to "starting from nothing" as you can get, look up Copenhagen Suborbitals. Instead of looking for a big money investor, they started their company with a bunch of smaller investors putting significantly less money each based more for the novelty of the program rather than expectations of financial returns. There's also the Google Lunar X teams which are all over the world (my personal favorite being the romanian team ARCA, due more to family pride than engineering practicality :salute: )

I remember that armadillo aerospace proposed something but I dont know if its a serious goal that they want reach. Well I read his page and they say they have the intention to reach the orbit

Perhaps us Orbinauts should pull together and build a rocket to send one of us (or a group if we're feeling really brave/insane) into orbit. I've got this picture of a bunch of us in a rocket blasting into orbit and NASA are just sitting there going "WHERE DID THAT ONE COME FROM?!?"

Or has my imagination got the better of me again?:leaving:

Launching anything would require a lot of oversight and paperwork + money.

If the people in Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise could do it, I'm sure we could do it. I'm mean, we all know orbital mechanics, we have people with computing knowledge, people with mechanical knowledge, people with scientific knowledge and skilled pilots, what more do we need. (apart from money and some where to launch from)
