Dear all,

When flying the Atlantis Space Shuttle as an ordinary plane (i.e. in Earth's atmosphere) I find it hard to make control inputs to the control surfaces (ailerons, elevator, rudder) using the numeric keypad. That is because e.g. if I press num2 (pitch up) the elevators deflect all the way up, and go back to neutral as soon as num2 is released. As a result, the shuttle makes increasingly violent pitching movements (same for rolling and yawing manoeuvres).

Is there a way to have the control surfaces move as long as their related key is pressed, and locked in the position they're in when that key is released? Ideally, there should also be a key (typically num5) to put them all back in their neutral position. Microsoft FlightSimulator works that way, and it works perfectly.

PS1: I don't want to use a joystick, so it should not be part of your solution

Thanks in advance

You can use trim (insert-button and delete-button). It's not as powerful as Num2 and Num8, but will do the task, especially when gliding straight.

Here's something I tried to knock up, should hopefully do what you are looking for - just extract the zip to your main orbiter directory and activate the "CSControl" module in the launchpad. You can zero out the control surfaces with num 5 - hit num 5 once more if you want to move them again.

Hope that helps.

Trim is indeed insufficient, not to say useless. A descent working trim would solve the problem.

Works like a charm, BigMac! Tried it on the "final approach" scenario. Thx !!
