Converting from Maya to Orbiter

Greetings Fellow Space Primates!

Am considering plunging in to do an add on.

Started slogging thru some tuts on anim8tor and just couldn't bear learning a new 3d workflow.

I have experience modeling in Maya and would like to model there and bring it into Orbiter.

Some questions:

A. Is there a converter program out there that will solve this problem?

B. If not will this work? (found this on the M6 forum)
1. export from maya as .obj
2. import .obj into anim8tor and export from there as .3ds
3. use 3ds2msh to convert .3ds to .msh?

C. Does the above procedure require me to own 3dsmax?

D. In the procedure above would I assign textures in maya, anim8tor or yet another program?

E. In the procedure above how does wanting animation affect the process of conversion?

F. How much does a pound of nails weigh on Mars? :lolol: (Just kidding on this one. Wonder if anybody will get that obscure reference?)
