Project CST-100

Yeah it's frustrating how little is public about this thing.

That thread on NASASpaceFlight is also where the mass figure comes from.

Best guess from the rocketplane xp sources are that the RS-88 is KeroLOX, so if that's true RCS and retros are probably going to be something else.

As for the size issue. unless I'm mistaken this thing shouldn't be that much bigger than the 4.6m shuttle payload bay. Maybe try throwing it on one of the delta add-ons to make sure?

I'm betting there is ton's of public information on this, but it's well hidden from public view and immediate access.

Thank for the support.:)

Sent a simple request looking for "Fact Sheets" on the CST-100 to the Seattle Webmaster, we shall see what we get back. I didn't mention anything other than I was a student doing a research paper.

Maybe someone should try it as well, but use "Press Kit" as another angle?!.

I'm working on a NASA PAO, FOIA request. This takes more time to compose... If it looks good we should send it to Boeing PAO simultaneously.

I could use some help looking for the CCDev Contract specs from the NASA archive.

Thanks to everyone for their support and hard work on this endeavour. We have two patches from Eli,they are shown below an will be on the spacecraft. Thanks for great work as always, Eli!

I'm going to fix the size and resend it to Diogom.

This is looking like it's going to be tremendous fun! Will certainly be keeping my eyes on the progress!

The Service Module mesh has been fixed,as well as the Command Module mesh. The Delta IV adapter meh has also been made.Beta testing may begin in less than a week. Here is all of the components so far.

OK, in making the Icon for this project (yes Ky contacted me to create it) would it be OK to use Boeing's corporate logo on it?

Yes it's a real project, and the logo may be used on the reproduction, especially since the PAO office decided not to help you with specs.

If you find one on Google images, check the free domain usage statement, most if not all will have free, or public licensing available. Just don't try to sell the add-on with the logo on it. Which I'm confident you wont.

Here is the almost end result.

I need to resize the capsule again

BTW, the pic is after Command Module separation.

Something tells me there has to be a separation burn to prevent recontact.

Really like the look of the heat-shield! Actually, the whole capsule's got the right "form" going for it right now - Function and Form in the best kind of marriage.

Aye, she's got lovely curves, doesn't she?

Yup lol.Thats how I make things.Next I might team up with Diogo again to make a crawler transporter

I still have to resize the capsule though.

Excellent work all! The rate at which is this is progressing is amazing.

That said... I really don't want to be the bearer of bad news here, especially since I've just been on the sidelines and you guys have been doing all the work but:

If that Delta CBC pictured above is the right size then your SM is still too big. They should be the same diameter.

If you'll look at the reference delta picture, the adapter cradle is tapering down to 4m because it's meeting the 4m delta IV medium upper stage, not the 5m CBC.

Ah :censored::facepalm:..........Ok lets take it from the top again.

Actually..i'm going to leave it like that for now. When it is ready to be released i'll fix it.

Never mind im going to fix it now.

OK just to clarify, that the icons i created were a normal color one for documentation and official use, while the grey scale one is meant for use on the spacecraft in a low-visibility capacity.

Thanks!I never thought it would turn out so good.I might make more spacecraft add-ons.

Also,Anyone have experience with implementing a virtual cockpit?

Well, I'd thought about it for a hacked-up spaceplane I had cobbled together. Gave up on it though. There is a tutorial for it on the 'Hangar. Lemme see if I can find it... [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2206"]Virtual cockpit demo[/ame]

The most excellent Greg Burch add-ons may lend some ideas. At least until you are ready for a .dll and Moach's future generic VC is rolling.

Thanks!Also,how is Documentation coming along?
