ive seen sum orbiter pics explosions and fire effects and such...is there an add-on that causes this that is good or is it just added to pics...and if there is can you tell me if its good or is it like microsoft flight simulators damage add-on that is so buggy it ruins the game.

The Main Orbiter module does allow for damage and failure but IF I remember right, those parameters are unique to each ship and are written into the code of the vessels module ( if any ).

time ago i there was a generic Damage addon for every ship in the simulator.but had some limitations.

Mercury has a range of system failures which can be either specified or randomised in the scenario file. It would be great if this could be incorporated for all launchers and vehicles.

But the Mercury failures are not able to be seen. I think he wants something realistic.

Time after time people have requested this, time after time I have attempted to create a stable plug-in, and time after time I have come to realize that it's a bad idea...To anyone who wants it, the latest version of orbiter damage plugin.

thanks...thats the 1..its a good idea..im sure in time the damage and collision detection in orbiter will become just as realistic as the rest of the game....that would be cool...i wont float though the iss anymore.

OrbDamage

Hi people!
Sorry my english, I'm gonna try my best this time!

I've posted a question about the OrbDamage, proabably in the wrong place, 'cause nobody answered me so far. So I'm gonna try here on this post!

Reading this whole post about the OrbDamage, I found 2 mistakes:
First, the damage that comes with Orbiter, it doesn't work!
I mean, you can reenter orbit with the pitch really low, burn like a barbeque for 10 minutes and land calm and safe at KSC.....apart from the smoke effect and the "flames", nothing happens! So, for me, a beginer, it's really complicated to understand if I did the reenter correctly or not...'cause I can reenter with -50m/s -80m/s....really slowly, calculating everything to make a good land at KSC, and not burning so much on my descent, but still don't know if that in real life, was ok to do!

Second, I downloaded the "OrbDamage.zip" sent by Computerex, and again, nothing happened! (I was using the normal launch for Atlantis, from the folder Space Shuttle Atlantis>Atlantis satellite Launch)
Sorry if I didn't understand how to use the add-on and was suposed to run it with another folder!

Anyway, I found the OrbDamage2, (I think it was at OrbHangar) a long time ago, and this add-on works!!!....BUT....it works so good, that it's impossible to launch the Atlantis without exploding when crossing 30Km!
That's why I posted that question about the OrbDamage!

My final question is: Is there any way to have an add-on working with Orbiter that makes sense?! That is realistic?!

Sorry again if I posted this on the wrong place again, I'm new here and I'm just waiting for someone to help me...
AND HOW DO I DELETE MY POSTS?!! I CAN'T FIND THE "DELETE" BUTTON ON THIS THING, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! lol

Waiting to hear from you!
Thanks everybody!
Alex.

If you knew you were burning to a crisp, why did you continue ? You didn't expect to die did you, that would be sick. ;)

If you're launching the space shuttle at full thrust the whole way, then it will burn in ascent, this is as real as the actual shuttle.

Shuttle launches throttle back for a but while getting up through the thick part of the atmosphere, then they go to full thrust later.

The short answer: There is no single Orbiter Damage simulator that works perfectly, because the capabilities of each and every ship are so different.

If you want accurate damage simulation - then stick to only those space-craft that impliment it.

hum...

Thanks for replying me!

I know that the space shuttle don't accelerate the whole way up, 'cause the thickest part of the atmosphere would make it burn, like on the reenter....etc...

So, I tryed to lift off and reduce the thrusters before 30Km...but even doing that, don't stop making the shuttle to explode into pieces! I tryed to reduce down to 60%...didn't work! So I tryed 50, 40, 30% and then what happens it's that the space shuttle colapse, 'cause there's no enough power to keep the nose up...

***Is there any way to lift off with OrbDamage2 turned on???
Thank you very much for your attention! Really!

Maybe this has been boring to you guys, my questions, but I think that flying this simulator with the real damage that could be caused, turn this into something more challenging and real!
Cheers!

Hi. You will need to read the documentation, and ignore the DGIV's damage wreck classes if you have it installed. Modify Atlantis's damage profile by editing the orbiter\config\damage\atlantis.cfg file. Good luck.
