Flight Question Default DG Reentry

I cannot find any reentry tutorials for the default DG. There all for the DG lV. Th DG lV has several reentry tools. Does the default DG have the ability to reenter and land at a given runway?

Hello. The default DG is magic. It is indestructible. Therefore the reentry isn't nearly as realistic as that of say DGIV. But as far as tutorials are concerned, a DG reentry tutorial comes already with Orbiter. Hit ALT + F1 while running the "Mission 3 - Deorbit" scenario within the Checklist scenarios.

There is a "walkthrough" also in the Orbiter manual. Page 91. But it's much more fun to re-enter in a DGIV or XR-1. Think of the stock DG as a bike with training wheels.

Yeah the DG is a great tool to help learn Orbiter but in my opinion there's no point trying reentries in it, because you'll probably end up using the DGIV or XR2 and reentry in those is pretty different from the DG's.

Actually, if you perfect your usage of the BaseSync and Aerobrake MFD's, you can de-orbit the DGIV flawlessly... the only "hard" part being having to manually maintaion a 40 degree AoA.

Not only that but it also greatly improves the handling during atmosphere flights. Highly recommended, it will make the default DG more fun.
