Has anyone ever used the emergency power with the Delta Glider IV

yes I have but it was just when I was messing about and I turned the generators off

i do that to lol
but i mean like if a real emergency had happend and how would something like that happen

The APU on the DGIV is kind of a cheat. It never fails or runs out of fuel. And it can be restarted in almost any situation.

I suppose if you ran the battery without the APU/generators on and the battery ran down, then you'd have to use emergency power or external power to start the APU. That's an unlikely scenario, but I'm pretty sure I've accidentally done it before!
(it's sort of like running your car radio and other electronics while the engine is off)

@ Quick Nick: In other words, leaving the headlights on.

I'm pretty sure that the operation of the DGIV with emergency power would be the same as per normal, only that you need to manage the electricity more efficiently (shutting down stuff when you don't need it, like the main computer) to make sure you've got enough power to get where you need to go.

I like to run on Emergency Power sometimes because the APU is so bloody noisy and cranky and I like the silence.

:P

What the ship needs is some solar panels for long trips. I have no clue as to where they would go but maybe some that fold out like on the ISS. :)

Even if they only produced enough power to run the life support systems and other needed systems. I think it would be more realistic than a APU that never runs out -)

I've used the Emergency Power in a real emergency situation, though I don't recall why. All I remember is I ran out of power and everyone died. :)
