So I'm probably growing quite renowned on this form as that one idiot who comes begging every few days for help with some problem, and I grant that...I figure it's just more material for people to look up later in the rare event they run into the same problems as I do.
Anyhow, here's what I know. I tried adding a DGIV to one of my scenarios via the in-game editor. Loaded fine, I could see its visual model and everything; change paints and crew through the editor, etc. Switched control to it and unpaused, and the sim crashed. I narrowed the issue down to the DGIV itself by loading the most basic scenario wherein the -only- vessel was the DGIV (modified "Performance Test" file included with it). Crashed while trying to startup. Nothing at all in the Orbiter.log file, just standard startup notifications.
Tried reinstalling the DGIV. No luck. Figured maybe the installer doesn't overwrite existing files. Installed to a temp folder and copied/pasted into Orbiter to make sure old files were overwritten. No luck. Maybe it was a conflict with an MFD I'd downloaded since I last used it. Turned off all modules before starting up. No luck. Thought maybe it was an issue with Spacecraft3, even though I hadn't had any trouble with other dependent vessels; reinstalled Spacecraft3.dll anyway. No luck.
I looked through my recent downloads and nothing stood out. Some new ships, scenarios, planet textures, MFDs...nothing that should interfere with anything regarding the DGIV itself once they're removed from the equation.
So, at this point I have absolutely no idea what's going on, and no leads other than that it works on a clean install of Orbiter...which isn't very illuminating.
