Erm...has anyone found a use for the DGIV's default cargoes? I've managed to "find" one using the nuclear reactor, dock it to the DGIV so it provides more power (it doesn't need to be docked, it just need to be in the cargo bay, where you can see some wires connected to the ship), the reactor itself can provide power when landed (with most systems activated), but it shuts down when you fire the engine....which is pretty neat.

the nuclear reactor on board (you use ext valve if its in the payload bay, and ext dock if the cargoes are docked)

And here, a DGIV running purely on nuclear power...

Now, for other things....do the other ones have a similar function? (like life support being used to extend missions, and medical cargo when your crew is injured)

...i just found out that Life Support Cargo (B38) seems to work too...O_O

(after 9 hours with all the enviromental systems off, only the payload is providing the necessary stuff)

Also...off topic, but is there a Random Comments Thread for Orbiter-related stuff?

Well I'll be darned, I never knew that! A long time ago in a far away galaxy, I used to carry a fuel container with me then dock with it and refill my tanks, but I think you can dock with anything and refuel, so it wasn't really working like what you show there.

Well if you only have a single comment, there is the off-topic thread:

http://www.orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=987

And if you want to start a whole off-topic thread, check out the "Brighton Lounge" near the bottom of the home page in the "Far Side of the Moon" section.

Although... these areas are technically for "non-orbiter related stuff" so maybe if you post an orbiter related comment in the off-topic thread, you are actually off topic. :hmm:

Oh and if you want to have a political discussion (for some ungodly reason) you can check out the basement

well i just checked out the fuel cargo, and it doesn't seem to be accessible in any way from the cargo bay like your reactor and life support.

In my humble opinion, external supplies are just working when you are landed (supposedly on a base with fuel, power and life support connections).

It doesn't work when you are inflight. If you want to use this kind of cargo while in space you need to dock it and use the "dock" connections for fuel, power and O2.
