Anyone here saw it? It's not in the cinemas yet over here, but from what I heard it is pretty much everything you could expect from a movie: furious, hard, thrilling and above all, inteligent. Seems like a tough combination that is rarely seen in movies today.

I saw it. I'd give it a C+. Not the best movie, more "Blair Witch" type... but a good story. Lots of room for a sequel.

Aside for some gaping plotholes and poorly developed characters, the film is really good for a summer popcorn flick.
The premise was nice, but sometime it feels underdeveloped. I first saw 'Alive in Joburg' 2 and a half years ago. Since then I followed Neil's work on SpyFilms and I was pretty excited earlier this year, when I heard a movie version, directed by him, will come out. Him and Copley (the actor playing Victor) worked together on the short. Neill also did the FMV's for Halo 3 and if I'm not mistaken, he will also direct the upcoming Halo movie.
As a fun fact, there was a thread on this forum some time ago, about a small video showing the Space Shuttle landing in Johannesburg. It started a heated discussion about whether or not those scenes were taken from "The Core", or something like that. Well, they weren't. It was an early clip done by Copley, in some viral video.

Yes, that was proven in that thread.

I definitely recommend this film.

Racism and xenophobia are a key theme of the film, so it isn't pure CGI nonsense like Transformers. Quite a bit of thought was certainly put into the design of the aliens and their technology.

Being a South African myself, I can certainly relate to some of the film's key points- and I had a good laugh at some scenes in the film. :P

Here's a human race:

There you have mutations of human race.
Some pale skinned that evolved to seize the scarsity of sunlight in northern lands.
Some dark skinned people who can withstand the sun radiation.
Those mutations helped humans to adapt to the environment.

You missed the joke.

It's a race, as in a competition of speed.
