is someone out their using the joystick specifically called:
"Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X" with orbitor 2010 and can you tell me your experiences with it? Programability etc. Number of Axis etc.
Debating about getting a joystick for use in orbiter only and this one was cheep. I dont know anything about joysticks. thanks

I don't have the joystick you are mentioning. (I have a logitech extreme 3d pro) But I can tell you that orbiter doesnt have very good joystick support. It'll recognize your joystick and throttle (well it recognized my throttle, might not do the same for yours).. But it doesn't have any native ability to configure the buttons on your joystick. .. You'll need a 3rd party program to bind joystick keys to keyboard keys.

There is an addon called "Fly by wire" which gives you more options to configure the axises (axi? axisi? axisoes?) on your joystick with, I found it to be too complex to configure and I ended up getting rid of it.. (you basically have to bind every single axis and sensitivity manually, there aren't any preset profiles). I imagine if you took the time to set it up it'd work well though.

I really only use my joystick when in atmospheric flight. When in outerspace I am usually messing with the mfd's or making small precise burns to change my projection... Something that is much easier done with the keyboard.

I'd like to eventually bind hover controls and a Rotational/linear toggle control etc to my joystick so I can use it more., I just haven't done it yet because I despise all the time it takes to configure it all.

I use Extreme 3D Pro too, and I can honestly say I prefer flying by numpad.

Except when landing, then I'm pretty dependent on the joystick.
